Title: Dead battery and keyless entry
Post by: Fatt Whip on 26 October 2014, 16:08
Hi, can anyone advise on how I can get into my MK2 without having to call a locksmith. I have keyless entry on the doors, and the boot was replaced so the key doesnt work there. The battery is completely flat so will not operate the central locking. I can remove the front grill but not sure if that will help anyway. Any suggestions very welcome!!

Removing the front grill would help, although not needed. You should be able get a stew driver in to push the latch. You would have more access without the grill, but doable.

Open bonnet as described above. Charge battery. Gain access. Uninstall keyless entry. Use a key as intended. Profit.

Of course, you can break in using traditional (non-destructive means)

Failing the bonnet entry method, you can call break down cover people to come and gain access to your car, being a mk2 Golf should be fairly cheap (if you're not covered for this sort of thing). Or kindly request help from the local police if all else fails...

Why not jack it up a bit and jump it/run a feed of another battery to main lead to starter and earth, if the battery is flat ?
