Title: Bent hub ?

Wondering what ive bent i smashed up an angled kerb on the passenger side and now my front wheel has got massive camber, went straight to kwik fit and they re adjusted my trackrods and said theyr not bent so the tracking is ok, couldnt see anything obvious didnt look like i bent the wishbone and i dont have drop links
Is it a bent hub?   :angry:

May be the ball joint has been pushed into the wishbone & kwik fit have done their usual level of service...

Not sure what you mean by smashed -if you are talking about parking speeds I think its unlikely for the hub to have been damaged. If its not the ball joint you may have bent the bottom of your shock absorber &/or damaged your top mount.
Take it to somebody who specialises in tracking, look for 4 wheel alignment local to you.

Years ago I did something similar in an Audi Coupe on a busy city street, for me the steering arm turned bananaish with the wheel turned in 30 degrees, moving the coupe to somewhere safe from wardens was very interesting!

driving on a 40mph road and went up the kerb  :sad: I have slightly stretched tyres so the rim hit contact straight away taking guages out the rim but that can be repaired
I was looking at my car underneath when it was on the ramp the balljoint looked ok and the strut didnt look bent but its very hard to tell i hope i havent and its just the hub?

what do i need to fit TT hubs as it seems like a good mod anyway as im lowered quite alot

Just as another example of how robust the hubs are, about 9 months ago I had no option but to drive over a 3x3 fence post at 70 in my Mk3 - The final list of replacements on the front end was front & rear wishbone bushes, ball joint, track rod end, top mount, pause for a week before the wheel bearing finally gave up & another week and the drive shaft was gone too. It also managed to make the rear beam purple powerflex bush inner hole oval, meaning I had a slight form of rear steer.
I still think you have bent something other than the hub.

iirc TT hubs have a different drive flange, you need to swap your golf ones over to use your existing drive shafts.
not sure if I read that they are taller, but lots of people have made the swap.
Are you going to hang onto the golf wishbone or go cast TT ones?

ahh fair enough, in that case its probs unlikely i done the hub which then i probably wont upgrade them to the TT ones yet..
But yeah id change the hub wishbone and balljoint
may have done the wishbone then as they are ECP cheapys, will find out tmoro hopefully ill post back with pics

Makes me feel better if I blame something else haha so annoying when I drive so carefully to avoid potholes at all costs then mount a kerb and bend the strut

Great that you found the problem, at least the strut is easier to change than the hub.
A big boo to kwik fit for not spotting it, or was it a very subtle bend?

Only way we kinda noticed was from the inside rim to the spring the normal side was easy about a 20mm gap,  and the crashed side barely 5mm and once we shun a torch up the strut you could then see it very slightly at an angle just coming out of the hub

ive fixed a similar / same issue to this on 2 cars now. apart from twisted wishbones, its both times been the hub itself. the hole where the ball joint goes in has been ovalised from the impact, I know these are tapered before anyone says anything but the base of the taper has been ovalised.

just my 2 pennies worth but you never know,
