Title: HELP PLEASE!
Post by: adsgti on 08 October 2014, 13:38
Hi guys new to the forum, just bought myself an 8 valve gti, however it has a idling issue. It goes from about a thousand rpm, up to two and a half then back down and up and so on. I've cleaned idle control valve, but it didn't help, please can someone help me!? Cheers Adam

Sounds like you've got an air leak. Check your vacuum hose lines for a break, ideally replace them all for new. Also check the main air intake boot for cracking, especially around the jubilee clips!

This is the age old question on this forum. Do a search for idling issue. Your fault is likely to be, as said, an air leak or faulty blue temperature sensor or broken wires from the throttle body switches, same switches fooked. Does the idle valve buzz when ignition is turned on?
Many answers to this problem. Good luck

Yeah the idle valve buzzez, and I've also been told elsewhere it's probably a air leak so I think I'll start by replacing the vacuum hose lines and checking the air intake. Thanks for the help guys I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again! :p
