Hey guys, so the other day I fitted a full set of MTEC drilled and grooved discs and some mintex pads, I brought the car for a drive and the pedal feels very spongy and the car takes a mile to stop!!!! I didn't disconnect any lines or anything so I don't know?? Also the ABS and Traction lights came on and are staying on!! I have driven the car about 10 miles as I thought maybe they need to bed in or something but its not improving at all!! I'm no mechanic by any means but I have a good idea.. Any ideas what could be going on??

You check to see if the brake fluid lid had popped off? When you rewind the calipers the fluid gets pushed back into the bottle and can overflow.
-
I had the lid off the bottle during the whole job, (and all night) as I started late in the evening and finished the next morning.. I was thinking maybe leaving it open over night had something to do with it?? but then would this be connected the abs and traction light??

when I did mine I clamped the brake hose and opened the bleed nippel when I rewound the rear and the same when I pushed the front piston in

You shouldn't do that, just push in job done.
Sounds like you have disturbed an ABS sensor.
Pads may well need bedding in a tad more. Did you open any bleed nipples?
Where are you located?

my brakes are working as thay should and no abs light on and no codes

OK but I've probably changed in excess of 200 sets of discs and pads and I haven't ever had an ABS light come on and I have never undone a bleed nipple to do the job.

You need to give them a good 50-100 miles to bed in, disks normally have a coating on them that burns off when used.
did you use a rewind tool to push the piston back?
-
Thanks for the replies.. So if it is an abs sensor will I have to buy a new one or could I just give it a clean or something?? I took it for another drive today and the brakes are starting to feel better.. The pedal is still very spongy!?!?

Ya their slowly getting there.. I gave the discs a good clear with brake cleaner before I fit them, that's why I was surprised when the the car could just about stop. :undecided:
I used a g-clamp on the front and had to wind the back calibre in.
