Hi guys,
I don't know if anyone has yet but does anyone use a 4 point clip in track harness at all?
If not, does anyone know where the rear isofix are?
I've had a quick look but it's not easy for me to get in and out the back of the car from the wheelchair! Everything is harder when you can't use your legs! I'm not being lazy!
This is more than a safety thing and I do know the risks and rewards for using a clip in harness :-)
Any help would be great!

The Isofixings should be visible between the seat cushion and backrest. They make them quite visible these days, unlike when they first came out and you had to fumble around for them. I dare say you should be able to see them in the mirror from the drivers seat.

Need to work out whether to use the schroth quick fit vw or a clip in system now!

I wonder if it'd be safer just using the normal seatbelt rather than something thats designed to protect a baby/small child in an accident? Not sure how confident i'd be tbh.

Due to my paralysis I have no core support so from the nipples down I can't support myself to sit up unaided, so due to this when driving spiritedly around round about and right hand corners my body tries to get in the passenger seat! Anyway, with a 4 point harness I can keep my upper body strapped into my drivers seat.
The Sparco and Schroth clip in 4 point harnesses are actually FIA approved so hey would be more than adequate to keep me in. The schroth quick fit also attaches to the original seat belts so that is also a option.

I think Jimble may have been referring to the strength of the isofix anchor points more than anything else. Don't know the official specs for them though.

So the belts may be FIA approved (for 5 years from the date of manufacture) but the critical point is the mount (and there are quite specific regulations in the RAC Blue Book, for example)...
In rally cars they are normally fixed at the hips by eye bolts using the original mounts with screw in eye bolts or welded in eye bolts. The shoulder straps are normally fixed to the cage or using screw in (to the rear seat belt mounts) or welded in eye bolts. I'd be wary of the isofix mounts for the reasons Jimbo states, unless I could finda statement or regulation to say what mass they are designed to secure...

Ahh so the the 4 point belt would be for stability rather than safety then? Would you still put on the the normal belt as well for safety in the event of an accident?

Yes the harness would be more for stability but looking at the schroth quick fit harness it will be the better option as it it goes straight into the original seat belt fixings and is easily removed for the short term.
I will have to see how much the isofix can hold though because this could be a short term solution also before stripping it and bolting in 6 point harnesses. Does anyone know where or what the specs would be?

I don't know where you would find it but I believe that ISOFIX needs to adhere to certain standards in terms of loading...

I need to be able to use the rear seat so removable is a must
