Apr may have won the race for stage 1 but looks like Unitronic has won the stage 2 race, unfortunately I dont think they have a UK dealer but its nice to have the 340 number confirmed :smiley:

So I'm a bit of a car novice - but from that level of torque/BHP is useless in a FWD car right? Or is that just from a standing start?

So... I can't use the entire throttle in my car if I get to stage 2? What's the point in that?

You can? Just not from standstill.

You can't use full throttle in the stock GTI from stand still either without massive wheel spin. So it's exactly the same?

With Stage 2 you have heaps more power once you're moving.

That's like saying why are Ford making their new Focus RS come with 360BHP & FWD.

Seems a large amount of torque to be putting through tyres. While accelerating through legal UK road speeds would you ever be able to safely put the foot down without risking skidding off into a tree?

The torque is usually limited in 1st & 2nd gear when power is this high to save the clutch from being destroyed but in 3rd onwards then yes full power will be available.

As long as you drive with common sense then I don't see there being any issues.

Leave the Traction control on and you shouldn't end up in a ditch.

What you are saying from a practical viewpoint is true, lots of power running through two wheels (particularly FWD) is generally accepted as not the best way of transferring the power to the road, hence why the R comes with Haldex.

Once up and rolling the vehicle will be a fair bit quicker than standard, which day to day is where you will experience the car the most. It also livens things up a bit as well, the stock boost numbers on these VAG vehicles can make them feel linear.

If these numbers turn out to be achievable then I'm impressed with the headroom this generation of TSI engines has without changing the turbo or fueling system.
