hi all
so today i finished my 2.0 8v conversion to my golf using the 2.0 mk3 block and the 8v digifant head
the car started first time however there is no oil getting to the head, or very very little at best, the oil light stays on and no oil comes out the side where the pressure sender goes, it does come out under good pressure from the sender at the filter housing tho.
anyone had this, seen it or know anything about this as i am rather stumped.
cheers.

Any chance you've got the head gasket on upside down?
-
Check the pick up is not blocked or fallen off in the sump.
Check the pump works.
Head gasket upside down would be a first for me and a major fail. Hows the coolant as this would be messed up too.
-
the head gaskit is on correctly because knowing I was using a block and head that came from different cars I checked and double checked that everything lined up and all the holes matched. I'll pull the sump off today and have a look in there, I'm using yhe mk2 oil pump (assuming there the same). my distributer Doesbt seem to be sitting correctly tho and I know that's what drives the pump, it sticks out more than it should
-
What dizzy are you using? As the original mk2 one wont fit?
-
the mk3 body with the mk2 internals, just sorted that, the gear was on upside down
-
is the mk3 oil filter housing different ?
-
Don't suppose you took any pictures of the re-assembly process, the new gasket particularly?
-
I didnt no, my problem lies with the oil cooler mount thingy, I put my airline back through the head sender hole and air cam out there's nithubg getting to the head because Theres nothing pumping it in that direction
-
Where did the air come out when you did that? At the filter housing?
-
what would be the top bolt hole on the mk2 housing; the mk3 bolt is offset to the left and the housing covers the hole
-
is the mk3 oil filter housing different ?
Yes - taller.

sooner this housing comes the sooner I can't get this set up and see how it feels, anyone know the output on this conversion, 270 cam and uprated valve springs

About 125 with a fair wind.
-
just replying to say that's my conversion finished and the oil problem is sorted, my housing came today, feels great to drive and very torquey in the low revs
-
I'm enjoying my 2l 8v. Think I might make a blanking plate for the breather though.
-
what would be the reason for blanking the breather?
-
Looks better, I think it has enough breathers all ready. Was leaking oil and air through the bung on the rocker so I changed that over today also. Gunna stop the exhaust blowing and then get it set up at stealth.
-
Glad its all sorted for ya, I've been driving my 2L conversion for about 18 months now and agree its a great upgrade. I commute in mine daily and the extra torque puts a smile on face daily :D
-
I get better economy with the increased torque. Block change up more and cruise around in a higher gear than before. Good conversion.
-
I agree wth the economy, I just drove glasgow to nairn on little over 1/4 of a tank from full
