What do all you MkV experts recommend for a GTI? Currently on Dunlops of some description, but have been looking at prices for tyres on Camskills etc, and there seems to be some very good rubber for sub £100 per corner.
So lets have your recommendations, budget £100 per corner max, preferences a tyre that grips like sh*t and lasts as long as possible.

I can recommend Nokian Line. They are a bit of a secret tip, not too many tyre places in the UK sell them but you can buy them online with fitting included (e.g. from mytyres.co.uk - they will ship directly to dealer).
If you cannot get the Line look for Nokian zLine, they are available in some bigger sizes too.
My brother put them on his old C4, it did significantly reduce understear compared to the Michelins he had on before.

I can only recommend Michelin Pilot Sport 3's. Little over your budget but really comfy, great handling for a road tyre and will last quite long. Better to spend more on tyres that'll last than cheaper ones.

I'm running PS3's as well...great tyre :afro:

Goodyear Eagle F1s love them!! and so far lasted longer than my previous Pilotsport 3s

Vredestein ultra sessantas
Grip as well as Michelins and the Goodyears and outlasted them both too. Plus well within your £100 per corner budget

Conti's

Dunlop SportMaxx RT. They have transformed my superchipped EOS (240bhp).

I have the Sportmaxx RTs on my mk7.....
13k and they are at 3mm. Pirelli P7s before that took 23k to get to 2mm!!!
They are pretty sticky though... :D
Would I have a choice I'd still go Nokian.

I find they encourage faster cornering, increasing the wear even more. Not a tyre for the cash strapped, but very good.

Although I'm still running PS3's the F1 asymmetrical's are my top choice. Ran PS2's on my old MK5 GTI and the difference in grip with the F1's was clear. A little soft in the corners though for some, with little side wall stiffening, but quite predictable. The PS3's are quieter but not as good in the wet IMO. Wearwise, I got 2yr out of the F1's so around 20,000 with some spirited driving, and the PS3's are wearing a little quicker, but the 40bhp extra and heavier front end wont be helping, as ED30 and DSG box...backs are still okay after 20,000 and look similar now to the fronts, at around 5mm HTH

Just put the latest uniroyals on a pd140 all round and they seem pretty good.
