Title: Alloy wheels refurb - bubbles
Post by: mistertee on 22 September 2014, 12:54
Hello all,

I picked up my Mk7 GTI wheel from the refurber's this morning, and I grumbled at them straight away.  I'm not sure if I'm being fobbed off on point 1, see what everyone thinks here.

1. There alloy has been repolished, and lacquered.  I noticed 2 small bubbles in the surface, I asked what they were and I was told it was the alloy giving off gas.  I would prefer them to be re-done, but I was told it was an artefact of polished alloys.  I said that none of my other alloys had the problem, and I was told they would probably be able to see defects.

2. They've rebalanced the wheel so I can see the weights.  I think this is a bit amateurish to be honest.

Am I being unreasonable??

Probably not but I guess they don't want to re-do the work!

2 is pretty crap, stick on weights for the inside of wheels have been around for forever.

1 is hard to judge - how visible really is it? will it always annoy you? if so then convince them to do the wheel again!!
