I'm just trying to learn as ,uch as possible at the moment,
so what is a safe level of boost to run on a standard 180Bhp GTi... Before i start with remaps, bigger injectors etc...
And i have to say i am a total convert, why i've never owned one of these before is beyond me.... sooooo much fun
-
I would leave the boost alone until the car is mapped. I blew my engine running 22psi on the standard map
-
No worries, i dont plan on turning it up... I just need to make sure its running correct
with the N75 its spikes at 15psi and then drops to 10psi,
Is 10-12psi a nice and safe limit?
I know how dangerouse it can be running too high as there isnt enough fuel to mix, and thats how pistons get melted
-
Ya 10-12psi will work with no problems. I think that 15psi is the stock boost for the 180bhp engine
-
Thanks David
Sorry, im a bit of a pain... i like to get as much information as possible before i start to mess about, just so i know my safe limits and that i'm not going to kill my baby.
I've never had a car that makes me smile like the Golf... its even better than the Calibra
-
If you do what I did then you will be smilling all day when you pass evos and skylines at 160mph
-
Explain :D
Destroying Scooby's and EVO's sounds like fantastic fun
-
320bhp. Nobody thinks a golf gti is that fast so everyone is supprised when I pass them with ease. My car is limited to 160mph but it will do more if I delimited it.
-
Holy Balls!!! 320Bhp
I was aiming for 240-250, but i thats a nice target to aim for... whats the driveablility like with that much power? Tourqe steer etc?
-
Its the same to drive as a standard golf. I get no torque steer at all in dry weather but if its wet the car is mad to go left
-
Same as any other then... i'll just make sure i'm running some good rubber and get the tracking sorted
-
You should be making more than 320bhp with a gt3071 mapped properly, more like mid 400s, my k03 hybrid produces 310bhp as it is. Or have you just had a complete rebuild and still have a running in map?
-
I'm still using standard rods so I mapped it safely
-
320Bhp in a standard Golf is awsome , but im going to aim for 250Bhp as a start before i start going crazy

Nope stock is around 8 to 10psi, mine remapped was hitting 18psi

Mine has been spiking at 15-18psi and then dipping down to 10 and 5, so i will adjust the MBC... but thi have a new N75 on order and N249, Once they arrive its off to R-Tec for a remap

Gt3071r with standard rod what waste of turbo its crying out for more power!!
