I'm sure everyone with Gti's (Mk5 on) will have noticed the issue with the drivers side seat back bolster beginning to wear due to the driver getting in and out.
I have adopted a drop in method for getting in the car which means I don't touch the protruding bit of the side bolster. Even so, it's begining to show early signs of wear. Also, the seat foam 'creaks' when I lean on it during cornering.
Has anyone put a new seat back cover on from VW? Are they even available?

A bit of a bump here...
But what do people do about this universal problem?
I've had it since I had a Mk1 GTi back in the 80's.
-
Can't say I've noticed any problems with mine. What type of wear? Sagging leather? Weakening of the bolster? Stitching coming loose? Can you be more specific.
-
Mines warring too has done from about 3 month old. Theres a thread somewere about it.
I will buy a replacment cover at some point once I get another chance of mates rates.
-
Ah, assume you've got cloth seats then.

I have not sure of andygo. The leather can too but not as bad. It just has the issues of sagging and creasing

I had replacement cloth complete back seat cover from vw £230 they wanted another £250 to fit !!!! so got a local car upholstery company to fit for £50 but he said he could of repaired the worn area with same material which would of been cheaper

Yeah, the leather on my driver's seat a bit creased and saggy now

Must admit I have toyed with the thought of getting it redone in half leather at a later date instead.

My old edition 30 with half leather as standard had exactly the same problem. I have to say, having had a couple of leather seated cars in the past, I'm not a big fan of leather.

Its easy enough to swap a cover over. One of the knobs on the side can be a pain to get off but other then that its not too bad.
We had a mk5 gti in with this exact problem. Just trying to match up the material can be difficult.
