Hi. I just knew something would go wrong. I have a new iPhone 6 which I am able to connect to the car Bluetooth and sync contacts etc. one problem though the signal strength and carrier info does not seem to be transferring between the phone and head unit. Ie it says no signal all the time. I am able to start a call from the car but after a short time the Bluetooth disconnects with the message no network connection although the phone continues in the call, just not connected to the car. I guess the new iPhone uses differnt incompatible Bluetooth? I have an iPhone 5 on iOS 8 which is fine so can rule out the os. Help!

Can't help I'm afraid but my iPhone 6 works fine on EE. Haven't tried to make any calls to be fair but the signal strength seems to display correctly. I'll have a play tomorrow.
PS
The carrier details, EE, also displays.
-
I guess that rules out the car though as I assume the Bluetooth modules will be the same. Thanks

I hope it's not a major issue I will be picking up a new iPhone in a few weeks and I'd hate to lose the hands free kit.

Hi. I got it working after 3 hours. Reset and reinstalled ios and reset car Bluetooth completely it finally works. Phew! A tip for anyone having problems with their iPhone is to remove as many iMessage numbers as possible from the device. Seems to cause Bluetooth problems.

Hi, I now have but 67 hours and change to wait to collect my new Golf GTD with options, and I've ordered a new IPhone 6 Plus just to make my tech complete. Id be interested to know if there are any issues other than Bluetooth snags that I should be aware of?
Infotainment is obviously important and I am looking forward to using my discover satnav, and DAB radio as well. Just how integrated is the IOS 8.0 to the on board infotainment?
Cheers,

The OS of the phone doesn't integrate at all with the head unit, the head unit will play music stored on the phone but will display in it's own format not the phones, the only other thing it does really is copy your phone book minus the photo's, it works well (usually) but isn't anything spectacular like mirror view or car-net available in other countries.

Mine is absolutely fine to my relief. I picked the phone up on Friday and I was dreading pairing it up to the car!

My iPhone 6 works fine but it's not displaying the artwork for songs purchased on the 6; songs purchased on my 5 still are showing the artwork. Highly confusing.
I can confirm that the phone sits on its side in the compartment at the front - just - but I do have an Apple silicone case on it which obviously increases the width slightly.
-
My iphone 6 wont play music at all. When I look at the connection i'm not getting the music player logo next to the bluetooth one on the screens. I'm afraid to fiddle with settings having spent so long initially getting the phone to talk to the car!

Back to the OP.
Been waiting for iOS 8.1 to be released yesterday to update my iPhone 6 in the hope it will connect to my Composition Media System. It doesn't.
I've tried and tried to get darn phone to pair with the CMS but it won't! Very frustrating as I can't use hands free anymore
Don't think taking it to the dealers or calling VW Customer Service will help (they're usually useless with anything tech).
Any tips?

Saw this article today whilst investigating iOS 8.1...
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/10/18/5-reasons-to-update-to-ios-8-1/ (http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/10/18/5-reasons-to-update-to-ios-8-1/)
Specifically:
In the weeks since the initial iOS 8 update, we’ve detailed the numerous iOS 8.0 and iOS 8.0.2 problems plaguing iPhone and iPad users all over the world. iOS 8 includes everything from landscape issues to debilitating Bluetooth problems inside the car. And while iOS 8.1 may not fix everything, there’s a good chance that it will come with a host of bug fixes on board.
Worth a shot, I reckon...

Installed 8.1 last night, and no problems with my iPhone 5 so far connected through BT.

Looks like its the iPhone 6 causing the problems then. I had and iPhone 5 running iOS 8 for a few days before I got my iPhone 6 and it connected no problem.
No matter how many times I try and search/connect my iPhone 6 to the CMS it won't see it. Infuriating. Grrrr!

Right then.
Found a solution to the twitchy Bluetooth, iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1 connection issue. Here's what I did:
Switch Bluetooth on on your iPhone
Scan for Bluetooth phones via the Media System
Whilst it's scanning go to your iPhone and tap Settings > Bluetooth
Then follow the prompt to tap the name of your device
The Media System and iPhone asks if you want to pair the device > tap yes
That's it.
I've made a hands-free call and it connected as it used to without any drop off or loss of connection. The iOS 8.1 update seems to have solved this ridiculous glitch whilst connecting and making calls. Kinda basic Bluetooth stuff but the first issue iOS 8 was seriously flawed.
Hope this helps.

Got my iPhone 6 yesterday. It didn't pair immediately - took abiut 5 mins. I had to..
- delete the original profile (my new phone had the same name)
- search for a new device
- whilst it was searching go into the Bluetooth arwa on the phone, turn Bluetooth off and on again
Then it found it immediately, no issues since
Hope this helps
