I've recently been given an electric central locking kit for my car and don't know how I would go about fitting it as it means removing the vacuum pump. And I'm unsure as to whether I need to add new wiring. Has anyone fitted this kit to their mk3 who could help explain on how to do it.

which hawk system did you get?
why would you have to remove the vac pump???

It's the one that replaces the door locks to an electric system rather than the unreliable vacuum pump

tbh I would keep the vac system... much better than cheap motors.
It's quite reliable, faults are normally very easy to trace (broken vac lines, corroded control PCB or broken wire in the doors)

to be honest changing the vac pipes has been a hassel in the past on my sisters polo and i feel like its not worth doing as its a common fault

not that common, I had 2 mk3s myself, lots of mates had some. I never had to redo the entire vac system; only once a broken bit of tubing on driver's door sill.
and when you've replaced vac lines they will last for another 15 years ;)
I know some people who have retrofitted motors... they normally don't last nearly as long as the vac system.
I fitted the hawk remote locking kit to my 96 estate, was easy but the whole thing with also swapping motors is a different ball game and involves ripping half the car apart. you can do it, get yourself wiring diagram from haynes... or post the hawk installation instruction here and I'll have a look at my haynes and tell you how to connect if you really want.

Appreciate the reply. I will try find the wiring digram out when I have the time. however the whole reason I bought the alarm system in the first place was because the alarm that was previously fitted had been cut. an when I tried reconnecting it the alarm would sound after a few seconds. I assume this is why one of the previous owners had cut the wires.
