Title: why is insurance for 21 year old so odd!! (interesting figures inside)
Post by: Dipesh2031 on 15 September 2014, 20:40
Hi,

Currently I drive a GTD which I pay 1300 as me and my dad both use the car (I use less than him of course) as named driver with 1 accident.

I GTD and I are not getting along as the car leaks as it's been in a crash and we didn't know when it was bought etc, lots of body work been done, panel gaps off, and rattles etc, I'm looking at bmw's maybe, and one figure stood out to me, the insurance for a 135i under the same above circumstances is £1,767... for a 3 litre twin turbo monster... but if I try a 335i it's 4.5k which seems about right, even the 2.0 diesels all get over 2000, is this a mistake, or can I really get insured on a 3.0 twin turbo at my young age?

it doesn't seem right, but I hate BMW's so I'm gonna stick to VW and maybe get another mk6 gtd or mk7 1.6 tdi

just thought it was interesting so I thought I'd make a post about it!

Unfortunately insurers see you as higher risk because of age and it's a pain because we've all been through that situation

All about risks.

So those figures suggest not many 21 year olds are crashing the more powerful car (probably because the people driving them care about their cars) while you are statistically more likely to crash the less powerful car.

Complete numbers game.
