Just a quick one. Do VR6 wings fit the GTI with the plastic arches etc?
Also any recommendations on where to get replacement wings from? Has anyone ever tried aftermarket ones?
-
All mk3 hatchback wings are the same other that squared/rounded indicator holes and the option of the aerial on the passenger wing.
-
What about the plastic arches. Do you have to drill holes in a vr6 wing to fit?
-
You can replace your wings with mk3 gti wings, which have the holes for the trim bits, or drill yours.
I believe the ones with the square indicators didn't have the holes, or they might all have them - i only know mine!
Boneybradley sells good quality wings @ oemandmore.co.uk - sorted me out with a pair of wings for an extremely good price, and excellent service also. just need em painted in your color.
-
That's great thanks. I take it they fit well?
-
to be fair I haven't had them fitted yet!
but they look inch for inch exactly like the ones currently on.. just naked with no paint coats obviously lol
-
Pattern wings never fit as good as the original tooled items but its down to how you fit them.
You will need to drill them for the rivets, but you can stick them on to avoid making holes

Yep! That's where I got mine that i mentioned in my OP
they look spot on exactly like the originals.. only now they're coated in a good layer of under body sealant so they (pray to god) don't go rusty again in a few years!
I just need a high quality panel beater/painter who won't charge the earth lol!
