Title: A few questions
Post by: MoMartin on 14 September 2014, 11:43
1 - does anyone know if there are any driveshafts that are  a straight fit other than the stock, that can handle a bit more power / last longer? (maybe the tdi version?)

2 - I'm looking at getting the 3" oversized tip for the AGU, but I would preferably like to keep the standard airbox that has a piper cross filter in it. What are people's thoughts on this? Like will I need a silicon reducer or would it be wise to just get an induction kit while I'm at it?

3 - an annoying squeaking / squelching kind of noise has started again when turning the wheels left to right, which was momentarily fixed by raising the front end up a bit. Why might it have come back do you think?

Edit - 4 - What additional mods will i need to get my car to 225+ bhp using the k03s or is my current setup fine? (currently have - Fmic, Decat, forge 007p, pipercross panel filter (might have missed something)

answer any questions you can, as any help is better than none
Thanks, Mo

1. cant help you on that but you will not need uprated drive shafts for 225bhp, i know people running best part of 300 on standard shafts. if you really want uprated shafts i think the audi tt hub upgrade might use the tt drive shafts but cant say for certain (know you use tt hubs and wish bones i belive but cant remember if you use the drive shafts or if there even any different)

2. the outlet of the airbox will just restrict it so no point in getting 3" tip and putting it on to a smaller pipe imo.

3. could be the steering rack leaking? may be the angle that its at if its lowered?

4. if your wanting to put the 3" tip on put a 3" maf on such as a vr maf, then id look into something like the honda s2k filter. if your doing 3" maf might aswell do larger injectors too, i think audi tt 225 injectors work with a little modification but cant be sure off the top of my head. the spec you have at the moment will probly see a little over 200bhp. to get to 225+ you will probly need a full exhaust system including 3" down pipe.

have a read through the mk4 build threads, will give you a bit of an idea of mods. also i believe Wes is running around 230bhp? so have a look for his build thread (user name :- Wazzzer)

first of all thanks for your input.

in answer to
1 -
Oh okay then, i  just didn't want to change the driveshafts to stock again if there was a straight fit uprated pair available, is all.

2 -
yeah, i have had a look at that, the thing is, is that i want the car to look as stock as possible, but have one hell of a kick once its got going. But yeah, that is a much better alternative really.

3 -
the car has been lowered, but i have raised it right back up, so that its between 2 and 4cms that its been lowered, and the sound seems to just happen regardless. i'll look into a leak though.

4 -
really? my current k03 setup sees about 190-198hp so i would have thought that it would be a bit of a larger gain than a few horse power.
And i didn't specify - it is a 3" downpipe to Decat i believe, its just the back box that hasn't been changed.
and yeah i've had a look at his setup, and according to r-tech that setup is good for 250-260bhp as he basically has everything for the stage 2+ remap.
