Hi All,
Driving back home the other day, sat nav was on with about 100 miles to go but I noticed the 'map' location hasn't moved for about 10 miles or so. Pulled over, took a 10 minutes break, got back in the car - map still in the same place. Restarted the nav, located / cancelled guidance etc. Map still in the same place. The 'directions' still work from the drivers console on the dash as do the announcements but map wouldn't move. Anyone had this? Trip the VW needed?
Regards,
Chief!

Might just be that you've taken it off follow car mode by moving the map. In the bottom right of the map there will be a perforated box style icon, just above the zoom level, click on that and it should move it back to following the car.

If is still stuck the next day take it into the dealers. Check the software details
If it is fine, whatever you do do NOT take this into the dealer for this issue.
Mine was in for a week. Techs talked to VW, I gave them GPS coordinates and….
3 months later…nothing.
I think there are certain spots where it sticks. I took the same journey from York to warwick University and it stuck each time in the same spot.

Mine stuck on the way home to Glasgow from Gillingham on its first outing. Considering I'd paid £1700 or whatever the cost of the nav pro is, I wasn't impressed at all.
It did correct itself though when I switched off and back on at the service station.
Its never happened again though so I put it down to a gremlin in the system.

Thanks all - I left the car switched off overnight and it's now fine. Must keep the 'nag' running for some-time if you stop, probably so it doesn't lose the location/guidance set.

It will turn itself off after 30 minutes when the ignition is off. If you try before 30 minutes it boots up quicker to save time.

Just an update. Map has not frozen since June and behaved well (2000+ miles in France).
However, now the radio has frozen.
VW tech at garage saw it and spoke about various issues and how a software update had probably caused them. Or fixed them.
VW know all about this but he says that it will be low down on any list they have. He was sympathetic and it is booked in. He is not optimistic. I asked him about a new unit and he said that the issues were current on new units as well.
Advised me to talk to VW Customer Care. I guess that if they cannot fix it they have to replace it?
I will not accept any compensation (other than (£1700:) as then I may have to stick with a faulty unit.
He said there had been no issues with the basic unit :)
