Hi All
My GTI was booked in for its first yearly service on Saturday morning. The dealer has just been on the phone to say my car has a recall of the electronic handbrake and Saturday is no longer an option. Apparently they require comms with VW UK during the process with is only available M-F 9-5. I wonder how big a process this actually is?

I had my car in for the first service on Monday and they did the update factory recall 45d4, it didn't take long I would guess the reason for vwuk contact is more to register the fact the update has been done to cover them in the event of any failure

It's not a recall it's a software update.

It's not a recall it's a software update.
It says on the VW paperwork from the dealer factory recall software update.

No 'safety' recalls outstanding on mine - http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/recalls
There may just be a general software update.

I was in for a service earlier this week as well and didn't need the update. Beginning to sound like it's just the earlier cars affected. Double checked on the VW link and all is clear.
