Looking for some help.. I'm getting a ticking noise from under the steering column behind the trim where the height control lever is. It's exactly the same noise as if you were pressing the Shift DSG button in the parked position when engine running. Could this be a relay? I have tried spraying contact cleaner where possible but no joy. The ticking noise is intermittent and tried taking the car to my local garage but they can't hear it and said the mechatronic is fine also. I am sure this is a relay...

there's no relay there, just the steering wheel controller.. little box of electrics with no moving parts

Ok thanks for the info. If my local vw garage can't find a fault on the mechatronics then I'm pretty stuck. I wonder if there is something up with the DSG button on the shifter... I'll keep trying to find the culprit! Thanks

Ok, so I have narrowed it down to the ignition.... When driving, not long after start-up, this is when I would hear the ticking noise, so what I have done over the last few days is that every time the ticking noise would appear (when driving) I would turn the ignition key a 1/4 of the way forward (towards the dash) and the ticking noise would stop!! Is there a relay for the ignition? If yes where would this be located? Could this be a bad connection to the ignition?
