Well after this weekend I'm still a little bit in love with the GTI, a weekend in Cardiff was on the cards and it was my turn to drive finally. After last weekends cleaning I was disappointed that it rained all the way down the M50 & A40 the cleaning payed off with it beading at 80mph like a dream and the rain off working over time.
Then the playtime in the Monmouth tunnel came along with 3 Lotus's dropping it down few gears and hitting the loud pedal we managed to show up a 1.4 Corsa, bless him he wanted to play with the big boys. When one of the Lotus's started spitting flames on over run he gave up and retreated to the inside lane.
On the way home this afternoon the sun came out and got a few waves and looks off a couple of other GTI owners in Cardiff, I don't think ill get used to having such head turner. We came home the long route over the Avonmouth bridge just to enjoy the drive a bit more. Even my mate in his Bluemotion MK7 enjoyed the drive.
Have to admit my mates are right, I can't get over how comfortable it is to drive, I could just keep driving it and not worry about it, I guess VW have got it right!
So now she is sat in the garage resting exhaust ticking cooling down and covered her face covered in flies awaiting my next adventure.

Sounds like you had a great time
Driving routinely day in day out, it's easy to forget what great cars they are. All it takes is a good trip somewhere with decent driving roads to remind you. Last winter I did a trip to Yorkshire, clocking up about 800 miles in a few days, I loved everyone of 'em. But that's the beauty of these cars, whether it's a dull commute, long motorway drag or some fun in a tunnel, they deliver.

Exactly, this is my weekend car, my daily is a Land Rover so as you can tell its a big change when you step inside.
A great it was, I can't wait for the next adventure, I think a euro trip is needed.
They deliver in spades as well, smile factor is a wonderful thing.
Your GTI looks awesome by the way, Black was the 3rd on my list after grey and white.
