Title: jom coilovers & others knocking noise
Post by: sharki786 on 06 September 2014, 10:57
Well i have a knocking noise and after checking all the front end over and over again i was confused until i met up with a friend and we started talking about the dubs. Anyway long story short he said he had same problem with the mk4 (mine is mk3 gti) he was using the same joms i have on mine. So he told me that the joms are rebuildable (not sure on others) after looking around the net i found out that at the top of the shock under the strut bar is a nut type  you need to undo this and clran it up and thread lock it. Simple as that. I havent tried this myself yet but when i get a chance i will. So if anyome of you guys are having a knocking noise comming and have replaced the top mounts and have coilovers fitted i suggest you grip the strut (bar that goes in & out of the shock) and move it, if its loose then you need to take the strut off and tighten it. If you want to go further then thread lock the c*nt
have a nice day
pics to come from google

It's a well known problem with joms, I stripped mine down and rebuilt them using a bit of threadlock to prevent it from happening.

Did the knock ever come back? How long did you have them on after the fix as i know you went air on the mk4
