Title: Vw golf mk4 speaker help?

Hey guys, new to this forum I hope you can help me out!

Basically I have a MK4 golf 2002.

Looking to buy some new speakers, subwoofer and and amp

I'm a total beginner at this sort of stuff... I'm more of a bass junky in all honesty aswell as nice crisp sound!

What sort of watts am I looking at that'll make the music in my car good?

A friend suggested getting a 1500watt sub and 1000watt amp with 700watt speakers.

What's your answer to this?

Any advice and suggestions would be fantastic!

700 watt speakers?? Get a decent component set-up at the front.  Do you have a budget in mind?
