Title: Advice needed - P2015 fault
Post by: joe6 on 02 September 2014, 19:39
Used VCDS to set the wiper tear drop  but then noticed the dreaded  P2015 fault . No other symptoms, no warning lights and engine seem to be pulling fine. Done 38k miles. Do I leave well alone or could this lead to more problems like the manifold flaps being ingested into the engine?

Had this when I had mine remapped, needed a new inlet manifold, have you got warranty?

No warranty unfortunately!! When I bought a VW I thought they were reliable. Did not have any problems with other (cheaper) makes in the past and most kept for 100000 miles. Will have to rely on some goodwill from VWCS and the stealer as it is a known fault from the Mk 5 and Mk 6. Can't do much until I get a warning light showing a fault.

An update:

As I mentioned before, I did not have any warning lights on the dash or error messages in the mfd or loss of power. Decided to delete the error codes in VCDS and see what happened. Have now driven about 150 miles on a mix of motorways. A roads and around town and some hard acceleration. Checked VCDS and no repeat of the error codes so think it may be a one off - keeping fingers crossed and will check frequently for a while.

Maybe its been a fault that's been repaired already under warranty. I know my dealer never bothers to clear fault codes, or even report ones where there is not light on.

VAG Error Code: 18447
EOBD II Error Code: P2015

Fault Location:
Intake Manifold Flap Position Sensor, Bank 1 - Implausible Signal

Possible Cause:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active.
Power Loss.

Intake Manifold Flap faulty.
Intake Manifold Flap Motor (V157) stuck/faulty.
Engine Control Module Software/Firmware Version faulty.
Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Intake Manifold Flap Motor (V157) faulty.

Possible Solutions:
Check Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Intake Manifold Flap Motor (V157).
Check Intake Manifold Flap.
Check/Replace Intake Manifold Flap Motor (V157).
Perform Output Tests/Basic Setting.

Special Notes:
In some Cases the Issue can only be resolved by Replacing the whole Intake Manifold.
The Intake Manifold Flap Motor (V157) and Intake Manifold Flap Potentiometer (G336) may be Part of the same Unit.
When found in a VW Golf/Jetta (1K): 1.9l PD-TDI (BRM), check Engine Control Module (ECM) Software Version:
03G-906-016-AB @ 7328 or 7550 as well as 03G-906-016-AC @ 7280 or 7551 do have a Software Error which requires a special Adaptation for the Intake Manifold Flap Motor (V157) which at this Point can only be performed with the Factory Tool.

Not the case ajmoir - over 4 years old and I do scan fairly regularly. Last one when I did an intermediate oil change about a month ago. Just hoping it was a one off.
