Title: Jacking points for mk5
Post by: Michael3 on 01 September 2014, 18:36
I have tried searching the forum, so please forgive me if this has been asked.

I am looking for the car jacking points on my mk5. The manual says they can be located by stamps on the sill, which are covered by the plastic side trims! Any other way of locating them? In particular, for the front:)

If there is a thread answering this, please do just send the link. I only seem to find posts for mk4 and mk6.
Thanks

These seem reasonable places to jack from with a trolley jack,i normally jack directly under the bush on the front

If you get down on your hands and knees and look under the car, there should be arrows moulded into the plastic sill/skirt trim pointing to a section of the body that is reinforced for a jack.

Thanks for the info. I will have to use the car jack, as in am parked on the road. Will look right under the car and locate it.

Car jack is for emergency only. It is a pretty poor jack and you'd be much better off getting a trolley jack.

Thanks. Sadly, no off-road parking, no storage and no garage means car jack is only option. Flat was on the traffic side of the road too. Thankfully quiet!
