Hi all,
I have a mk3 agg that I'm going to swap out for the abf.
I bought a full abf donor car so I have every thing I need.
Few questions
At the engine there is that big plug joining the two parts of the engine loom. Can the abf loom be plugged in there or does it all need changing back to the fuse box? I'm know the ecu has to be changed.
What's the deal with the imobliser? Does it need to be sent away to have the ecu altered or can the box in the car just be unplugged like the french rubbish?
If I do need to send it away where's best?
Many thanks
Gareth

I've done this swap a couple of times. You need to swap the whole engine loom to the fuse box which will require you to remove the brake servo for access.
If you have a donor car then swap the immobiliser transponder box under the dash also the chip in the keys then it will run fine.

Thanks for the reply. Only problem is I've already stripped the car and the key and imobliser weren't kept because tbh didn't think it would of had one due to car ages. Lol stupid move

which immo and keys have you thrown away?
donor or shell you're putting it in?
if you still have a matched set of immobiliser and keys from shell you can match it with the ABF ecu. if not get another immo with matching transponders or get immo where you know the pin, then matching new transponders is a 3 min exercise with vcds

I no longer have the keys or immobiliser from the abf donor shell. My agg shell has matching keys and immobiliser as it's still running on the road.
How would I go about matching the abf ecu to my current keys and immobiliser?

You can do it through vag com

Ok thanks for the help guys.
Are there any major do's and don'ts?
Are there any preparations that need to be made to the immobiliser first before the ecu is plugged in?
Locked and ecu before on a french car and that wasn't a good day lol would rather ask all the questions first to avoid that again :)
