Title: Rear passenger door wont open from outside
Post by: Diluxe on 29 August 2014, 10:48
the rear passenger door after initial unlock wont open from the outside handle, however once you pull the handle from the inside its all good, but as soon as you lock the car, its back to not working.

i plan on taking the door apart this weekend to have a look, anyone got any pointers to whats up & any part i should buy inadvance so i can replace it whilst its open.

cheers

sorted this out on Saturday morning, turned out to be the door lock mechanism £130 from local TPS.

couple of points
1) the inside door card does not need to come off
2) you will need a torx screw driver set , i bought this from screwfix , http://www.screwfix.com/p/forge-steel-torx-screwdriver-set-6pcs/89013 ,  its was 50% off on saturday.
4) the door handle needs fair old pull initially to free it so you can pull it out, you pull it towards the lock end of the door.
3) for the 5 door and rear doors there is one screw holding the outer skin just behind the rubber sleeve that feeds the electrical cables from shell pillar into door, all the others can been seen easily.
4) when you put the door back together, if the handle isn't springing back after pulling it, it means you probably haven't attached the cable to the handle in the correct position.

job shouldn't take more than 1.5-2 hours.

cheers

Are you sure you haven't got the child lock set? It's on the inside of the door.
