I was on the motorway the other day and as I went round a long left hander to change motorways my car died - a hard shoulder inspection revealed the fuel pump fuse had blown - odd but I sacrificed the heated rear window and carried on my journey - then two days later on my way home - the exact same place changing motorways - long left hander the same thing happened ? Now the fact it happened at the same time, both on long quick left handers suggest something is shorting it - wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if anyone knows what could be causing the short ? I've made the same journey a 100 times but this was the first time it's happened !!
On a slightly better note - since swapping my 17"s for 16"s and fitting a decat pipe and straight throughing the middle box I got much better mpg on the motorway - averaged 42.2 including the breakdown from a 96 8v gti !!!

Make sure relay 167 is pushed fully home

Ok cool, where is that to be found ?

Its the fuel pump relay and you will find it with all the fuses and other relays below the steering wheel to the right
