Im due to remove my k03s turbo to fit new actuator amongst other stuff. Is there anything i can swap the turbo with that doesnt require all injectors etc to be changed. Getting custom map fmic all done same time but thought is there anything i can do to squeeze abit more bhp while doing all this work?
-
in short no, if you have all the supporting mods go K03s stage 2 and that'll pretty much max your K03s in terms of power. If you do go stage 2 you ideally want a yellow spring in the DV and Actuator
You could add things like WMI (which is next on my to do list ) and then its staying as it is

Well im kitting car out with handling mods to cope spax coilovers etc THS intercooler kit. Forge 008 and forge actuator. What about a aftrrmarket manifold? Few gains to be had?
-
THS Intercooler is expensive and when I tried to get one ages ago they were struggling with stock, have a look at the wellycooler, and save yourself a few hundred quid....
nope don't get an aftermarket manifold, just get either yours or another stock one ported and polished
-
Ye i know they more than a welly cooler but they such a good fit and real neat too. So if i bought a 2nd hand oem.manifold and got it done ported etc that be a ok?
-
Just get bbt k300 and be done with it good for near 300hp with supporting mods ko3 housing to so straight swop.
-
Supporting mods are? Lol
-
Bigger tip, 3" maf housing, induction kit, injectors, fuel pump, and performance exhaust too i would imagine.
-
I would advise doing the conrods if you plan to have launch control and flat shifting mapped in. I am also inclined to say water meth too - it serves to help make the power more consistent all year around, even on the hottest days
-
So a k300 would run on my current set up along with uprated fuel pump injectors as ive got rest of mods all ready
-
If there is nothing wrong with the K03s, personally I would wait until that blows before upgrading, but that's just me
-
Car done 125k butvturbo has no play and boosts as should in stage 2 mapping. Been let down by worn actuator though
-
I know its fiddly, but I am pretty sure you could get the actuator on without removing the whole turbo :undecided:
I did mine when I replaced my K03 for the K03s so I had to but if you are keeping with that turbo I would seriously try
-
You can definitely change the actuator with the turbo in place but I remember having to remove the manifold and the water feed banjo bolt to gain access to one of the bolts for the actuator bracket.
That was when I had a k03s, I didn't end up using the forge actuator for the k300, the k300 was mapped with a 1 bar actuator that came with the turbo, also not sure the forge actuator from the k03 would for the k300 turbo because the k300 uses a k04 compressor housing, not a k03 housing.

Cheers guys

Also forgot to ask which injectors you're going for?
If you haven't already bought them, I would highly recommend a set of genesis 550cc, the spray pattern is oem and fit on the stock AUM manifold/fuel rail with only the need for wiring adapters. Very good response and spray pattern.

Dunno wat im doing yet i might just get the k03s running mint as actuator showin its age so be a prob a different car if it was all running 100%.
-
are you sure the issue is the actuator?
-
Nope just guessing. Im trying to get car running 100% car on stage 2 amd map but was a 2nd hand ecu and im still on oem side mount etc so replacing actuator no matter what that will help after all oem one done 125k. Then getting fmic. Then to rtech to do fresh map properly to my car
-
your biggest restriction will be the SMIC, but you should have an uprated actuator with a stage 2 K03s to be honest anyway.
-
I changed my actuator with the turbo still in place, manifold off though
-
Yer i mean first time you boot it it flys but after that starts to feel flat
-
SMIC will be struggling after a few runs.
Might be worth finding someone with VCDS to do logging but 125k on an original actuator - probably is weak by now
-
well im splashing some cash on the golf so may as well improve where i can. ill get a spare manifold to get ported then, new actuator, forge dv, fmic, , replacement cat back then to remap r-tech should run miles better
-
You won't regret going fmic, it helps to sustain the power, I make healthy power all year around regardless of weather condition (also have water methanol to help)
