Title: Notchy gear change after clutch pedal replaced
Post by: ERVS on 26 August 2014, 23:42
Hi All

I have an issue with notchy gear change into any gear and was wondering if anyone has had the same.

My 2012 GTI went in for service 2 weeks ago into the dealers and they diagnosed a TSB on the clutch pedal and it needed to be replaced. Well they replaced it and also told me there was also something wrong with the clutch master cylinder and they replaced that too all under warranty. When I got the car back it was ok but a few days later I found that it was hard to put it in gear and really have to force the gear lever in. It went back into the dealers last week and they bled the clutch system 3 times.
Although is not as bad as before i still find that it can be notchy when I am trying to go into any gear quickly, I can only confirm that it was not like that before, gear changes used to be smooth.

Do you think that there is still air in the system? What else could be causing this?
Does the slave cylinder needs to be replaced? From the research I have been looking at the whole gearbox needs to be removed for the slave cylinder to be replaced.
