Title: Bloody headlights
Post by: MK3 Beardo on 26 August 2014, 01:03
Have spent ages wanging around with the lights on my 8V GTi - the driver's side headlight only works when it wants to, and both of them seem impossible to adjust properly. There's evidence of some light crash damage on the driver's side - does this tend to break the adjusters?

The adjusters are very brittle, doesn't take much.

Figured as much, thanks :)
Are they easy enough to find replacements for?

I'm not sure now but few years ago you couldn't buy them seperately so i had to buy another set of lights, which of course turned up with broken adjusters so got another set and faffed about with them all in bits and made one good set out of them.

Looks like that's still the case  >:(
Will have to get a bit medieval with some nuts and bolts then, I suppose!

If you need new headlights - Cliff who works at Lucas House has a very nice stash of parts!

I always forget about Cliff's shed of Mk3 delights! Will pop down later in the week, ask him if he's got any lights for me :)

I got a spare adjuster I've taken out of a mk3 headlight...

I think it's the longer one. You can have it if you wanna feddle around with your old ones.
