hello all......
long time since my last post but got some questions about alloys if anyone can help...?? been thinking about gettin some new wheels for a while as my original 16" are bit scuffed and i need two new tyres anytime now as the weak traction control can't stop me spinning even if it had rained last week. So i thought about new set wheels and am considering these audi style alloys......http://www.tyresave.co.uk/alloysvw.html
i think I've seen a mk 4 golf on here with these wheels fitted but can't find it now for love nor money. I'm bit of a mods novice to be honest and am just wondering if anyone has bought wheels from this site/place before and what u guys think of these wheels in general. will i need to lower the suspension after having 18" fitted to reduce the 'raised' effect they'll give the ride???
many thanks in advance

thanks chap....
i take it he's pleased with the results?
i think they look sweet and they aren't too expensive either.
many thanks for the link

Yeah they do look well nice on mate, polished rs4's are nice too tho. When you get em the package price is good, but they come with sh!t tyres

-
thanks mate...i've sent u the PM and look forward to hearing from u.
many thanks again
-
Flipmode, aren't the ones in your link RS4's?? Gaz's RS6's look nicer I reckon.ÂÂÂ
Get some decent tyres tho' - it's worth it.ÂÂÂ
Have a look on ebay - I got my Avus Audi TT wheels with tyres second hand off ebay for £300. Mint condition.

... and yep, I would get it lowered, as big wheels on stock suspension can look a bit silly. If you don't want to spend too much just get some shorter, stiffer springs (£60 - £130 for a set depending on quality), or you can spend a lot and go for coilovers (~£600+).
-
i love those RS 6 wheels, how much roughly are they to buy without tyres??? (as i know a place that does good tyres for cheep!)
-
I've seen em without tyres foe £100 a piece
-
if u follow the link on my first message in this thread to a company called 'Tyresave' then they are £380 alloys only, i think its free delivery or if not £30. I reckon thats a bargain and might buy some next couple of days. I did bit of surfing on the net and that was about the cheapest i found.
-
wow for 18"'s they are well cheep, think iam gonna have to save for that one!! Ive bin looking at lots of rims and i did like multi spokes and R32 wheels, but after thinking about cleaning them, i changed my mind lol
its gonna take me a while to save tho  as iam getting my car lowered in two weeks time *excited*
-
i know what u mean, its one thing then another....have ordered the wheels, due for pick up within the week, i want to pick them up myself because i want to check out the finish on them before i part with my cash. Having to swap insurance company tho......with sainsbury at mo and they won't adjust my policy to inc wheels and exhaust mods......switching to adrian flux Will cost me £40 extra so not too bad at all really. Once the wheels are on I'm going for Eibach springs to drop down a bit, otherwise the wheels won't look their best
-
Europarts do a cheap set of springs for £60ish - Gaz (Kniterider) has these on his Mk4. I went for the more expensive Eibachs - I'm quite happy with mine, but then I haven't experienced owt else... so not sure if its worth the extra.ÂÂÂ
On the website, Flipmode, it says that badges with "4 rings" (I assume the audi symbol) are supplied - but says nowt about VW badges (Although it does on the RS4 wheels!?!). VW badges can be pricey so watch out, matey. (I couldn't afford VW badges - stealership quoted me £100 so I stuck with audi ones!).
-
good spot mate, i didn't realize that, will ask the tyre alloy shop about that, if they don't supply em i guess I'll give Awesome a ring and if not look on ebay or worst case scenario go badge-less for a bit until i figure something out !!??
Will let u know how i get on, got service coming up next week as well so will b expensive car month me thinks !
-
just to keep u up to date richy, gettin the alloys fitted tomorrow as long as i like the look of them when i get there !! and they come with those hard to find VW centre caps so the chap at Tyresave tells me. fingers crossed, will let u know how i get on
-
post a pic, Flipmode!
-
will do mate, just give me an hour of sunshine so i can wash the mucky thing and i'll take a pic and post it
-

I've put my pics on a new thread in this section of the forum called ....."New RS6 Style Alloy Wheels Pics" or something (don't ask why). They are pre-wash cos it was raining this morning, needless to say as soon as the sun came out i cleaned the car and she's gleaming again now with her nice new rims, just need some more fine weather now so i can go for cruise, who knows what tomorrow will bring.
catch ya'll later
