To cut a long story short. Currently got 17" 8.5j gen Porsche Twists with 205 40 17 tyres
Just got some 18" 8.5j et 52 porsche twists with 225 40 18 tyres on.
On the rear I have 35mm adapters (no problems)
Front I have 20mm adapters but the new wheels are catching on the coilovers
If I get 205 40 18 tyres on the front will that stop the rubbing? Or will I need bigger adapters?
The 17s are back on atm and the fronts just miss the coilover with the 205 40 17 tyres.
Can I run 205 40 18 on front and 225 40 18 on rear??
Any help would be appreciated :(

Yo.
I Had a staggered set, pretty sure I had 225/40 upfront (on an 8J wheel IIRC) & then a 225/40 on the rear on a 10J wheel. I had 20mm adaptors upfront and 15 on the rear. I'm only lowering springs and shocks & didn't have any problems.

I would switch to 25mm adaptors on the front.

Will have to try new adapters then  more money
If i was to change the tyres would that work swell ? as they will need changing soon anyway

You could switch to 205's but I would recommend the same size all round
