Title: Rubbing noise from brakes.
Post by: Tonebatch on 22 August 2014, 14:02
When reversing off my drive from cold this morning heard a horrible rubbing noise. It seemed to be coming from the rear of the car. Auto hold was in operation. Disengaged auto hold and this seemed to cure the problem. Drove fine after with no rubbing noise apparent. Is this a possible fault with auto hold I wonder or a one off aberration.

Mine makes a small squeal from the rear brakes when I reverse out in the morning. I never bothered raising it with the dealer. I must see if disabling auto hold fixes it.

If your car is kept outside it will more than likely be a bit of oxidisation built up on the discs overnight. Nothing to be concerned about. As soon as you drive off just applying the brakes will clean them up and shut the noise up.
I sometimes get it after I have washed mine and put it away without driving it anywhere.
