I've noticed a few times recently that when in 4th gear doing around 40mph or so that if I take my foot off the accelerator to coast as I'm approaching the car in front I feel a very slight pull back in the car, the same feeling you get when changing gear in an automatic, but not so obvious.
I don't think the gear or speed is a factor here but anyone else experienced this? It is very slight and like I said has only happened a few times lately

Is that with cruise on? It'll probably be the radar sensing you are getting too close (for its liking) to the car in front and braking a little for you.
-
No, don't use cruise control. Its a sudden momentary stutter and certainly no breaking involved.

had this in my leon tdi and now in my golf sometimes but not as much, no idea what is the cause but just thought id let you know youre not alone lol
-
Might be engine suspension failing? That would cause the engine to move when you ease on the throttle. Sometimes when I am stopped at a traffic light and I rev up the engine I can feel it moving slightly
-
no if it was the same as mine it only happens whilst moving, mostly in 4th mostly when im going down a hill, hence the lifting off but never stationary. more like a wierd engine breaking pull on the car but only for a split second and in complete silence...

In my case imagine a strong gust of wind hitting the car and thats the feeling I get

very good example
