Title: Central Locking Pump Staying On?
Post by: Djmac on 19 August 2014, 11:30
Hi All, Was at vw festival over the weekend and an issue occurred with my central locking, My car would not start on the morning and found out my central locking pump was constantly making a buzzing noise, i know it makes a buzz noise for a few seconds when opening the doors, but this is staying on? ive just unclipped it for now but have obviously lost the central locking feature, Is this a common fault or can someone help me, Cheers Dan

It's normally caused by a leaking or split vacuum pipe to one of the doors.

Have a listen round the A pillars for a hissing sound when the pump is running.

Great, thanks, will have a check! Is it going to be a job off chasing loads of hoses to find a split... Happy days

So when i have the pump on and i lock the car via the drivers side door, the boot and drivers door both lock, so im guessing its a passenger side fault... The window also drops 2 inch when i lock and unlock it?
