Title: Tartan Cloth Seats
Post by: Gorocco on 18 August 2014, 14:10
My seat is starting to scuff/bobble on the inside (both sides) It's very noticeable and surely this isn't normal wear or tear? The car is not yet six months old. Any others with similar issues?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Had mine since 1st March, 6500 miles and it's spot on. Does seem a little bit premature...

Not on mine, and i've had it 50 weeks. Never had it on any VW (had 7 from new inc GTD). I always scotchguard (although this time I had fee Lifeshine for the inconvenience of having my car built 7 weeks later than planned, so didn't scotchguard). Maybe the coating makes it a little more hardwearing (less friction between surfaces?) for cloth on cloth.

Thanks guys. I am coming up to 3000 miles. Can understand if it was 30000. Looks like a trip to the dealer.

Nearly 10 months and 9k here and not a mark on mine, look and feel same as when received.

Think you can safely say you have an issue or something is seriously wearing at them to cause that

I Just get in the car and drive it - no heavy duty use. Normal trousers, nothing outwardly different to any other car I've driven. It's scuffing on the left towards the steering wheel and on the right further back towards the seat belt. The car needs a good clean, embarrassed to say I haven't cleaned inside it yet, so noticed it earlier.

Would not hesitate to take it back then, the fabric is really hard wearing and just a damp cloth has it looking like new from occassional marks and dust.

7 months and no wear on mine, MK7 is a big improvement on seat quality compared to older models.

I've seen demo GTI's with small mileage and the bolsters looking pretty shabby. I'd say like any car with bolstered seats, they will be prone to wear if you aren't especially careful getting in and out of them.

I've done 15k miles and the seats are showing no signs of wear at all. Defo a trip to the dealers!
