Hi all, it's been a very long time since I've posted but I ordered a new GTI over the weekend to replace my Mk5.
I went for a 3 door DSG model in Carbon Grey with some extras:
Advance telephone connection
Climate comfort windscreen
Dynaudio sound pack
High beam assist
Park assist system
Rear view camera
Winter pack
Keyless entry
Door Sill Trim – Steel with GTI lettering
Perhaps I could have saved a few quick without some of the toys, but who cares. Life is to be enjoyed...
I haven't been given a delivery date but they say it would be as long as 20 weeks.

Nice spec although I would have forgone a few of the options and added the Performance Pack
-
I thought about the PP, but the majority of my time on the road is spent in heavy traffic to and from work so I added a few toys and extras that I'd actually get the full benefit from.
-
What do your get with the winter pack that you don't get anyway? Is it just heated seats?
-
According to VW "Winter pack includes headlight washers, heated front seats, heated windscreen washer jets and low washer fluid warning light" & I think the mirrors are already heated. I have it on my current GTI so I'd miss it if it wasn't there on my new car.
I also have a very trivial question, but I'm a heavy user of Spotify. If my iPhone is connected can I play music via Spotify?
-
Nice spec, alot of which I spec'd up for a quote on a GTD, except winter pack and windscreen.
Wasn't keen on the wait, so did a deal on a heavily spec'd stock car.
It will be a long wait.
I hope you got a good deal.
-
I could have shopped around and perhaps got a slightly better deal but I got around £1500 off & a very reasonable part-ex offer for my Mk5 GTI. I don't have the time to shop around or travel to a dealer miles away so. So I know I could have got another grand off somewhere further afield but I am happy with the deal agreed between Lancaster VW of Letchworth and myself.
They are very local to me which is also something I am happy about.

Hi Steve
I've ordered mine recently. Pure White 3dr PP manual with DCC, Dynaudio, Discover Satnav, Winter Pack, Park Assist, High Beam Assist, Keyless and Rear Camera. I've not got a BW yet but in answer to your question on Spotify my understanding is you can play it through Bluetooth or with the media cable. It won't let you scroll through albums or playlists but will show track info and allow you to ff/rw.

If you have Bi-Xenon headlights the only extra with the Winter Pack is heated seats.

...and heated windscreen washer jets

Door Sill Trim – Steel with GTI lettering
Is this a new option? Would be interested in a retrofit if they do branded ones now!

Hi Dave, nice spec you've ordered! Thanks for the info on Spotify, it seems feature limited but at least it will work.

The Bi-Xenon headlights are standard aren't they? At least according to the VW website...
They will be a nice upgrade to my crappy candle-in-a-jam-jar headlights on my Mk5. They are woeful.

I'd be interested too! I cant find any mention of it in etka...

My car was due late December/early January but the dealer phoned me yesterday to say that the car is due to begin production at the start of October and due to be delivered around the very end of October.
Nice... :)

Thats quick, I bet your well pleased. Ordered mine 6th August and still saying late November delivery. Pure PP with Dynaudio, why the difference in delivery I wonder ?

I've just spoken to my dealer and mine is being built next week!! Should have it 1st week in Oct all being well.

Dealers have quotas for production slots. Your dealer may have used up their Oct allocation. Mine was ordered Mid July.

So I finally got my build date, it's the week commencing 26/10/14.
I'm not sure how long it will take until it arrives, I'm guessing late November?

Sounds about right although watching loads of build date threads when I was waiting on mine, it wasn't too uncommon for folks cars to be at the dealers 2 weeks after the build date.
It gets built and loaded on to the train reasonably quickly, the stumbling part seems to be if it makes the boat or not as it can sit about for a few weeks.
-
So the website tracker updated me this morning to say that the car had reached the UK and estimates it takes 10 days to reach the dealer.
Around lunchtime I get a e-mail from my dealer with a link to a video showing the car being dropped off and a little guided tour. That was a nice surprise!
I guess the tracker is around a week out of sync...

On a GTI its heated seats and heated washer nozzles. The larger reservoir (which they never mention), headlamp jets and low fluid warning light come with it anyway. VW should go the Audi route and just offer heated seats on their own....
-
I've found the winter pack to be a must-have extra on my Mk5 and it's proven to be a good choice what with some of the really bad winters I've had where I live over the last 5 years. With my Mk7 I went for the winter pack & climate windscreen too.

Went to do the finance paperwork today and saw it in the flesh for the first time. Pick her up on Monday
-
Sounds like a fab car Steve! Enjoy!
-
Yeh, nice spec Steve, bet you can't wait! I went option heavy on my GTD too, but I don't regret any of them - all very well designed and use them all loads (even used the heated seats in Summer when I had a bad back!) The dynaudio sounds amazing too, had it at 75% volume for the first time the other day and it was crystal clear and the bass was awesome.
-
Thanks chaps. Can't wait! I haven't specified anything I won't use so I don't feel I have wasted money on them.
I'm a bit concerned with the keyless option I went for what with all the stories about thefts and so on, so the dealer is getting a tracker fitted that I requested and it will all be done before I collect on Monday. It will help shave off a few quid with the insurance too.
I have gone over budget by a few grand which isn't ideal right before Xmas, but it's not every day you buy yourself a brand new GTI, so what the heck, might as well do it properly... :)
-
I collected the car this evening! It wasn't really an ideal time to take some good photos but this will have to do for now

Very nice Stevie

Congratulations. Love the Jacara seats.
-
Very nice indeed. That looks cracking you've got there. Many congrats
Funny how you get used to things as I didn't like the red stripe accross the headlights originally. But its grown on me.
