Hello all. So the golf is causing me some issues now. The car came fitted with a performance induction kit and twin exhaust. There's is a juddering issue which I hope is sorted by a service, however there seems to be issues regarding power. When I put my foot down there is no power at times and I have noticed a slight misfire at times also. Anyone know what could be causing this?

first off get yourself a cheap code reader off eBay think mine was called a u281,you will be able to read faults and clear them, change relays 30 and 167 these are ecu and fuel pump relays and are a known common fault, change the fuel filter, replace all the fabric covered vac lines with 3mm ID silicone hose, clean your throttlebody, then report back :-)
-
Thanks bud I will check that all and let you know what happens
-
So I cleaned the throttle body which was filthy along with changing spark plugs. The car has a rough idle now to the point where the car shakes really bad. Have ordered the U281 fault code scanner will plug it in and read faults. Will get get contact cleaner and clean contacts as there was oil on the sensor
-
Have you unplugged the maf sensor to see if it runs better ?
-
It does run better with maf sensor disconnected, currently disconnected
-
You can try cleaning the sensor (electrical contact cleaner) which does work sometimes but not allways ,running unplugged is only ok for the short term the ecu will be fueling the engine at a default setting so wont be running at its best, performance or economy.

Thinking to wait until the code reader comes before I purchase any parts
-
most likely not gonna show faults
normally then makes sense to look at measuring blocks but cheapo reader can't do that.
-
I received the fault code reader today and it read the following faults:
00283 - abs wheel speed signal no1
00532 - supply voltage B+
17978 - immobiliser?
00537- oxygen sensor
00520 - mass air flow sensor
-
So clean the sensors clear the codes, drive it around for a bit and rescan to see what comes back, then look at replacing a few parts, some of them faults may have been logged from a long time ago.
-
Whats the outcome i think ive got the same problem
-
clear all fault codes then re-read it.
but the things its saying are round sound like things that would cause your issue.. lambda and MAF going wrong = running like sh!t.
are you getting any awful, almost eggy smells coming through your vents or from your exhaust?
sometimes the lambda dying can cause this, because the engine cant tell whats going through the exhaust/catalyst, so the fuel mixture goes off what it should.
