Title: mk5 gti suspension on 1.9tdi HELP!
Post by: Dipesh2031 on 15 August 2014, 10:24
Hi, guys

bit of an emergency, my golfs at the mechanic and I gave him the 55 mm struts off a gti along with springs and hub for a conversion, but he's saying it doesn't fit because it's hitting the drive shaft???? I'm confused about this as I thought the hubs would fit with gti suspension on them to a 1.9 tdi as a golf gti is still a golf... please shed some light into this as the longer my cars on the ramp the more it's costing me! :(

Golf is a Golf BUT diesel VS petrol will have difference shocks and springs weights due to the weight over the front axle

I know, which is why I bought the gti DSG suspension from the breakers as this accounts for an extra 80kg, meaning the weight of the petrol gti dsg is pretty much exactly the same

Problem is apparently the gti dsg anti roll bars angle when mounted will mean it hits the drive shaft they tell me... very odd... if they cant install the bar I will get it done somewhere else! or just see how it handles with a gti rear bar and a tsi front bar
