Title: Fuse alternator issue
Post by: 1.8Tgolf_Chris on 12 August 2014, 19:37
My car yesterday hesitated starting a few times and started lighting up abs, traction control and airbag in the morning and afterwork yesturday few miles from my house went limp mode, id took a stab in the dark and thought id killed the battery due to having installed a sub.
Today it started fine in the morning but died when i got to work, I noticed the Fuse is melted ontop the battery the terminal to the far left so i was looking at the alternator but its brand new  bought a new fuse box and all the bits 70 odd quid is this likely to fix the problem because i dont actually know why it melted
The car now runs fine now and charges battery again?

If my memory serves me correctly this is the cable coming from the alternator to the battery breaking down, very common

as wazzer said -either poorly fitted cable or cable knackered .
