Oh well . . . 17000km's and still going, brilliant car. However, it seems like August month has just been bad luck, maybe i should just park it for a couple of days. My favorite function, one touch open/close has suddenly just stopped working. I have tried to reset the switch using the instructions on the manual still no luck , has anyone encountered a similar problem?
On another note, on my way home last week my lovely clean windscreen was hit by a stone coming from an incoming truck on the highway. It is cracked and due for replacement . . .

I had the drivers window not doing one touch opening and closing, but was easily fixed with the instructions in the manual - sounds like you have a switch problem.

Thanks for the feedback, i am planning to book it in. I am guessing this is covered by the warranty.

For what it's worth there is a tpi, aka a service bulletin, out on this issue. Had mine serviced yesterday and complained that my switch gets automatic amnesia about once a month. There is no posted cure yet but you can log the issue with your stealer.

Mine has this problem.
About once a week it forgets about "one touch". So I reset it by putting it up then holding the button for 2-3 seconds at fully up.
Fixes the problem.
Then a few days later, its forgotten again.
Dealer says there's no problem.
Have given up asking.

Call vw customer service, they may identify the tpi. I could ask my dealer when he calls me.
