Title: Passenger Side Wheel Arch - Two Holes ?
Post by: Chief1337 on 10 August 2014, 17:20
Hi All,

Not posted in a while - but just cleaning the GTi today and noticed on the passenger side wheel arch there are two 'holes' about 2 inches long. Picture below:-

Is this normal?! Would someone mind taking a picture of the same area on their cars?

There drivers side doesn't have this:-

Worried about water piling into them. Doesn't seem right?

Never noticed before... :s

Haha! I don't think so? :-)

Does everyone have these two inches 'holes' on the passenger side inner wheel arch?

I assume this is on the front? Couldn't really tell that well with my eyesight so I checked all 4 arches and no holes in mine!

Hi All - I need a massive favour. I've now had a long running 'discussion' with vw that this lining / dust cover on my passenger wheel arch isn't right. They refuse to agree. Could a few of you both on older gtis (mine is October 2013 built) and newly built ones take some pictures of the passenger wheel arch lining / cover and share with me ? I'm thinking if the inter cooler is this side a different vented lining would be correct??

If anyone has any part numbers that would also be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance - keen to put this to bed !

My BW50 2013 does not have that slit in the arch lining. There are 3 different versions of that plastic liner listed in etka. I cant tell which one you should have but the transmission fitted is what decides which trim is fitted.

As your car is DSG and PP, you have an extra radiator on the driver's side. You have nothing on the left.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks - greatly appreciated. Within the arch lining itself, are there any other vents or grills or anything at all? I'm trying to work out what on earth these slits would be for or whether it's a mistake.

Do you happen to have the part numbers / links to the 3 different versions you mention? I'd be interested in comparing this to someone who's recently had a GTi built. Can anyone help?

Thanks again!

Here are the part numbers:

5G0 805 911 P
5G0 805 911 T
5G0 805 911 G (This has been superseded by 5G0 805 911 H

Going by the PR codes listed for my car, I have the rev T fitted. I posted the full list of codes for my car in the build thread. If you want me to check yours, post up a pic of the vehicle data sticker from the service book. Cover the VIN.

Any parts department will be able to tell you which part should be fitted to your car. You could take off yours and check the p/n.

I don't think it's worth arguing with VW. If it bothers you that much, just buy the rev T and fit it. It will cost £19-£21.

Thanks Kevin - greatly appreciated!!!

I must have the 5G0 805 911 H or G fitted to that side. Seems like a major design fault having two holes in the cover where crap is just going to pile in?! :-)
