Hi,
Took my Anniversary into bodyshop to sort various bits of rust - usual places - but ended up doing quite a bit more work than I hoped.
Struggled to find a arch spat for rear wing, but now sorted.
Biggest problem is near side sill tape and red tape for bumper and side mouldings. Can't find anything that's even close.
Could anyone point me in the right direction?
I do want to keep it standard
Still need to get wheels refurbished, and I would like to fit the chrome trims to exhaust tailpipe.
Why is it that VW don't seem interested in maintains decent parts supply??
Can't wait to get it back on the road, but probably not for another few weeks
Cheers
Mike

Only bumpers had red tape
Ebay is your best bet. And if you cant match it then re tape the whole lot.
VW wont have parts for the mk3 because its old and not many people drive them and the people that do wont be putting genuine parts. Basically not profitable!
-
Regarding the red tape just used coachline tape on ebay.
-
What is the width of the standard red coach line? Mine looks to have been replaced and has some on the side mouldings too; not standard then?
-
The tape is only fitted to the bumpers originally and people use 6mm (genuine was 6.5mm and last time I saw some for sale it was £65 a small roll for 1 bumper!! made by 3M if you fancy getting as close to original as possible. also the genuine red is a darker red and much darker than the red pinstripe on ebay
-
Just buy the tape I mentioned for £3

Here's a good site about the "20 jahre": http://www.vw-golf.gti-world.de/index.php/sondermodelle/jubi20/20_FAQ

Look up 1/4" tomato red coach tape on USA site o'reilys.
It's 6.33 up to 6.5 mm in width and about 30m long

Thanks people
Just shows wealth of knowledge ( and my stupidity - wrong search terms on eBay!!)
-
halfrauds sell it.. £5 i put it on my anni.. although only the front and reat had it.. but i have it all around i think it looks better.

Halfords sell 6mm red tape but it is the wrong width and colour (I sell it on a roll and have it on both my anni's) but for a restoration I would need to buy the right stuff!
I can't find the o'reilys coach tape!! :undecided:

6mm trim tape from Halfords works perfectly

Yes but its half a mm too thin, or four times the thickness of a human hair....
if it's not OEM its not an anniversary therefore many scene points deducted

Worked perfectly on my mk3

I have normal red tape fitted but it's too bright!! (It makes the badges look dull/worn!) :embarrassed:

I can get them both genuine or after market (and you can't see the difference except the prices!!). I am awaiting confirmation of prices

Here you go, genuine and good prices.
Ebay 300946197620
300946197608
Obviously if you buy both you pay one shipping. Top bloke deals in genuine parts. I have bought about 5 genuine badges off him

He also isn't 100% with his listings, it says obsolete on the listings but I can buy them still form VW Classic parts (just awaiting confirmation of my discount rate before I order!) although to sell they will be similar prices to him (for genuine)
