hi , I've recently just purchased a mk2 ryder ,which has had mk3 subframe etc , i also have a mk4 golf 1.8 t and I'm planning to convert the ryder , my question is what would i need to do such a conversion? , sorry if its been asked a million and one times ,i just can't find anything relating .
thanks reece

Google it and there are literally step by step guides on how to do the conversion. Every possible question regarding it would have been asked countless times.
-
yes . there are step by step guides but none that are relevant to what I'm asking for , e.g. mk4 complete loom into the mk 2 ,also what mounts to use as the car currently has a 2.0l 8v gti lump out of mk3 , trust me I've searched maybe not the right phrases i don't know but I'm struggling and any help would be amazing

Try searching for a 20vt into a mk3 then. I know the front mk3 engine mount is different, I think it's purely a case of using the mk3 mounts over mk2 when doing the conversion. I just made a hockey puck front mount and I love it. The looms ect are the exact same principle from all the engines, the immobiliser will have to be flashed ect. You can send your loom off at a cost to have it spliced for a perfect plug and play to someone like rubjonny on club gti.

thanks for the reply ,will it have to be flashed if i keep the whole loom and make that work with the mk2 lights ?because I'm planning on keeping the mk 4 interior if possible?
-
The loom can be spliced into the original fuse box no problem, it's ignition barrels and stuff which confuses things as the ecu has an immobiliser. You can use the mk4 front seats if you cut and weld the outboard rails on them. But they are very heavy seats though. Not sure about rear bench.

There is a guide to pictures, it's just add to photobucket and copy and paste the IMG number across or something like that.

Mk2 Ryder with a 2L 8v installed already. You checked nothing else has been upgraded at the same time?
-
as far as i can see its had the subframes ,brakes ,fuel tank pretty much everything of the mk 3 , is this good for me or not ?
-
Fuel tank is good if it came with the vr6 fuel pump.
-
can you not use the mk4 one ? because i doubt the vr6 pump is in there
