Can someone check if they get a whirring noise on full lock from what sounds like behind the dials!!
Its not that loud at all, barely noticeable in fact when I have the stereo on. So may very well have had it from new. However the last few days its been slightly noisier so more noticeable.
If I have the steering tight on full lock and rev the car, as the revs are coming down I hear a whirring noise also coming down in time with the revs.
I somehow think it is related to the sound actuator but don't get it at any other time apart from full lock.

Hi p3asa,
I have a very similar thing and questioned it when I first bought the car. Only difference is on mine it is more noticeable when actually moving the car slightly forward or back when on full lock. I can't comment whether it occurs when stationary but can let you know later on. My bro-in-law who works at a VAG specialist tuning place said its quite normal and a lot of the modern cars do it apparently. My wifes A1 does the exact same thing too...I can't remember what he said causes it...
Oh and I thought it was from behind the dash as it was very faint but I noticed when opening a window, it is actually more noticeable from near the front suspension/wheel, maybe steering rack? area.

Thanks.
Yes mine was more noticeable when edging forward or back but was happening while stationary last night.
I tried it again this morning and it wouldn't make the noise at all!!
Next time I hear it I'll put the window down to see if its from the front of the car.
