Title: RCD 310 radio/CD head unit and phone function

I've purchased a 2010 golf GTi with a RCD 310 head unit. I was thinking of upgrading to a RNS 510 sat nav unit but I'm kinda happy with the original unit but I'd like the phone function enabled. Can I enable the phone function with the RCD 310?

After a bit of research I've come to the conclusion that the phone only works with the sat nav unit.

No so. You can add a bluetooth module. As long as you have a Highline MFD and multi-funtion steering wheel, it will work. Although they are much easier to use with a touch screen radio. RCD510 or RNS510.
