Title: no power to the boot
Post by: Sugar79 on 06 August 2014, 16:33
My central locking for the boot doesn't work, nor does the boot light or the power point.. i just tried putting a new boot release solenoid in, but it still does not work.. i read about a comfort control module??? could this be a problem? not sure what it does tbh.. also my central locking does play up a little.. when i lock the car i have to press the lock on the remote 3 times to get the indicators to flash, sometimes the rear o/s door makes a locking noise the 3rd time and then it flashes.

Anyone any ideas???

well i found broken wire in the top right hand side of the tailgate, fixed that and the central locking to the boot now works.. but no joy with the boot light and power socket  think it maybe the catch lock, read up that the washer motor leaks (which mine does) and knackers the micro switch.. how reliable is a second hand unit? new ones seem to be £40  and still leaves the question why the power socket doesnt work

The tube for the rear screen washer jet is not very well clamped on. You need to remove and replace with better hose giving a better non leaking connection or it will mess up the boot switch you replace it with.

Problems aside...I see you're a fellow Maidstone mk4 owner.

to fix the boot light issue , remove the lock , spray in a load of WD40 and physically mover the lever that operates the microswitch back and forth a good few times. This has worked for me on 2 seperate units now . The switch is enclosed so you cant get into it.

what sort of pipe am i looking for? as the one connected looks complex

wiggled the switch and sprayed dw40 and no joy, got a second hand switch.. clipped the electric plug in and the boot light works.. prob is i can't get the old lock out as i don't have one of those massive star keys in my tool set  what type of tool is it???

spline tool , if you take the old one out , i reckon you can get that working too.
