Title: Engine scanners -vgate scanner ??

What's the best priced scanner available plz ?

 I've bought a vgate scan vs450.,
tried it on my 2009 golf gt mk6 and it doesn't seam to work ?
comes up with

09754-160 can bus
DTC definitions not found ! Please refer to vehicle service manual

any advice on this plz,do I have to upgrade the software from somewhere or is my car to new ??

I had that scanner and i've a 12 plate used it to check out the CECM trouble codes. This picked up 2 faults and defined them as per VCDS. Don'f know what could be wrong with it. When you plug into the OBD port think it gives 2 options Audi/VW or OBD. I picked Audi/vw and then the particular module.

Mines a vgate perfect for what i need did you have ignition on???
