Hello,
I was driving home from work about 15 miles and I was just about home and for the first time the oil pressure warning light came on beeped a few times the turned off. So I got it home, no rattles no knocks, everything's normall as it has been, I switched it off and got the misses to drop me to Tps to get fresh oil, filter, and a new oil pick up pipe and seal, I got home dropped the sump and there was no sludge what so ever just a few very small metal bits, the oil pick up pipe was not blocked but I replaced it anyway. I sprayed brake cleaner in and around the oil pump too witched looked fine aswell, I put the car back together and started it up and took it for a drive. No oil light so I though ideal. Anyway today was the second time I drove it since the new pics up pipe and after about 10 miles the low pressure light came on again and went off, the car has full vw service history and covered 88k has anyone had this problem? The car seems to be driving spot on no noises ect but I'm puzzled, any Info will be much appreciated, cheers

Faulty oil pressure switch?
-
That's what I'm starting to think mate but I don't wanna drive it and there actually be a problem so I'm gonna nip tps and asked them about it, I hope it's just a switch not sure what else it could be apart from pump?

Get the pressure checked by a local garage, if within spec you have a faulty sensor if low I suspect your oil pump is knackered.

I'll do it tomorrow at work as I'm a motorcycle mechanic apprentice, the boys at work have worked with vag engines previously for years, but get funny a little sometimes with my questions haha, so I thought I'd ask you guys first. Cheers

Just an update, I swapped sensors with another aum engine I have and took the car for a long drive about 30 miles, no warning lights and everything was fine. Gonna drive it to work tomorrow and see what happens

For the cost of a brand new sensor it's cheaper starting from that. Make sure you use a genuine part.

Yeah I have used a genuine part as I always do, everything's fine at the moment touch wood
