Title: gti 8v wont Rev past 5300rpm

I have has this problem for a few months now but it's starting to get on my nerves and I want it fixed, if I Rev the car at stationary it revs cleanly all the way to the red line, same goes when driving in gear as long as I never floor it, if I use about 3/4 theottle when accelerating it will Rev all the way to the red line again however the minute I floor it or accelerate with my foot hard down it gets to just over 5k and starts jerking about and it's rather violent, like an early Rev limiter but it actually throws you about. any ideas ?

have you got the old rev limiter type of rotar arm , spring loaded nasty thing ?

no I have a solid arm, and it only happens on WOT not if I rev it all the way gently

HT lead rubbing,then shorting under heavy load ?
 the one from the dizzycap to the coil ? gone through several of em  :angry:
